Preschool Program

MONDAY – WEDNESDAY – FRIDAY 4 year olds

We are a half-day preschool. Our morning session begins at 9:00 a.m. and is over at 11:30 a.m. We also offer an afternoon session which begins at 12:15 noon and concludes at 2:45 p.m. (Please see ‘extended day’ description in this Program section to find ways to lengthen your child’s school hours with us). To attend our program children need to be four year of age by December 31st of the current school year. Classes are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

We will continue to offer a developmental approach to learning as well as an emergent curriculum to our four year old students. There are ten children assigned in each classroom and they work together with their adjoining classroom in what we called ‘PODS’. There are 3 qualified teachers working together in this combined group of 20. In this way children have the ability to collaborate and work in both large and small groups settings which helps prepare them for independent success as they reach their kindergarten year.

Our school utilizes an emergent approach to curriculum development. Children brainstorm as a group what they are interested in. Teachers observe children and see where their interest lie and make suggestions. Children initiate their own plans. Their interactions are thoughtful, cooperative, and they ask and answer their own questions as they dive into the project. It may be a project which lasts a month or so, or something simple which may be studied for only a week. They plan and organize supplies, encounter obstacles and solve problems. Children become more independent and confident as they work through their plans.

Each classroom has interest / learning centers which include blocks, dramatic play, art studio, easel painting, light table, writing table, communication center, clay, wire experiences, library area, Lego table, classroom pets, musical instruments, and a variety of tactile experiences to enhance all learning styles. Children also participate in various science and cooking experiences.

In addition to ongoing learning centers and project work, our four year olds will also be exposed to the basic phonic pre-reading sounds (‘Alpha-Friends’ used by our surrounding school districts. This is a kinesthetic, auditory and visual method for teaching phonics)

Extracurricular activities include; chapel; music and movement; motor lab; woodworking and garden lessons.

Please read our school philosophy (including ‘The 100 Languages’) for more detailed information.

Currently the annual tuition rates for the 2024-25 Mon/Wed/Fri program are $4,550.00 or $455.00 per month.
