Harvest Time - Week of October 2014

Pumpkin, pumpkin sitting on the wall,

Pumpkin, pumpkin tip and fall.

Pumpkin, pumpkin rolling down the street,

Pumpkin, pumpkin trick or treat!

The children will use gross motor skills, the child will rhyme.

Once I had a pumpkin, a pumpkin, a pumpkin,

once I had a pumpkin with no face at all.

With no eyes, and no nose, and no mouth, and no teeth,

Once I had a pumpkin with no face at all.

So we made a jack-o-lantern, jack-o-lantern, jack-o-lantern

so we made a jack-o-lantern with one _________ (happy, sad, angry,) face

with two eyes, and one nose, and one mouth, and big teeth,

so we made a jack-o-lantern with one ____________ face.

We have explored facial gestures - happy, sad, mad, scared, etc. . .

We will look at the face to identify the feeling.

We will point to our body parts when we sing about them.

Props: masks                   Song: Knock, knock, knock

Knock, knock, knock sounds like more -

silly sounds outside my door,

I opened that door and what did I see,

I saw a __________ looking at me.

The children will use language (adjectives) to describe what they see

pretty queen, happy queen, two eyed queen, etc. . .

5 Little pumpkins sitting on the gate

The first one said, "Oh, my it's getting late!"

The second on said,  "There are owls in the air."

The third one said, "Oh we don't care."

The fourth one said, "Let's run, and run, and run!"

The fifth one said, "Let's have harvest fun!"

. . .so ooooh went the candles and out went the lights

,and five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.

The children will use hand movements to act out the song, the children will count to five, the children will use recall skills.
